India's Attacks: Over Democracy Syndrome

My father was shocked this morning when he was viewing the direct pictures from Mumbai about that bloody attack. He said that he had visited the luxurious hotel of Taj Mahal which has been attacked. I was sleeping last night. I didn’t follow what happened from the beginning.

When I wake up this morning, I have been surprised about what happened. I don’t know who are implicated in these attacks. What I know very well that all the world is passing through a period of instability.

What I remember now is the question which has been asked by the editor of Instablogs and answered also by the editors about the possibility of a civil war in India. The answers shocked me. Most of who answered the question agreed that India is in its way to a civil war. The answers itself may be justified. Yes, it is the Over-Democracy syndrome.

Forget civil war. No question at all in this country which is steeped in feudal traditions but opted for democracy though it has become dyfunctional anarchy during its 60-year old run. Two centuries ago, one-third of europe perished between violent clashes between two warring factions of Christians but in India, even in the undivided India, dubious for frequent Hindu-Muslim clashes, never had the situation assume such an alarming preposition. And there is no apprehension on this account though emotional outbursts at this biggest onslaught on the democracy and pluralism, some may tempted to be the prophets of the doom.
